Each device type has its advantages and disadvantages.

At the top of our calculation is the SF 210 – gasoline snow thrower from the Baden-Württemberg manufacturer Fuxtec. This model offers with 60 x 51 centimeters a good working window and should have enough power with its 7.5 HP motor and ice-blowing function to get through solid snow and close it up to nine meters toss. We could only make out a few cordless snow blowers for which the manufacturer's instructions were sufficient to meet our price-performance calculation. But all devices have one thing in common: at best, they are only suitable for narrow snow packs. According to our NLPP calculation based on the manufacturer's data, the AL-KO ST 4048 EnergyFlex solo based on the given data round 190 cost euros. The street price is 200 Euro. In addition, we would like to clearly point out that the device does not include a battery or a charger – the costs are around 170 Euro. The fact that the energy supply is sold separately seems to be common practice among manufacturers. We could not find a real price-performance recommendation for cordless snow blowers.
For the calculation we use NLPP . That stands for “non-linear performance pricing”. The software of the same name from Saphirion algorithmically determines a price-performance rating based on product properties – in this case consisting of manufacturer information – and prices. To put it more simply, she answers the question: “How much should this product actually cost?” Results can be that a branded product is exposed as too expensive. But even Spartan and inexpensive products do not necessarily perform well. The algorithm determines important and unimportant features based on the data basis and assigns a weight to them for the final formula calculation. It may turn out that a cheap model is packed with features, but they are not all general price drivers. The keyword “price driver” is very important here: the algorithm does not evaluate how important, for example, the work light is for the user, but only how much effect an existing work light has or should have on the price.
Of course we check what the program throws out for plausibility. If necessary, we use the option of manually marking properties as important. We also check the results of the price-performance evaluation again and judge whether the recommendation makes sense.

Gasoline engines are the battleships under the snow blowers. They are large and heavy, but offer enough power, depending on the engine power, to also powder frozen snow over a large area. In addition, with a petrol engine you are not tied to the range of the socket or have to wait for the battery to be fully charged. The disadvantage is that these devices are difficult to control, especially in winding areas. Also, not everyone has the power to start the device with a cable, these models are the most maintenance-intensive, take up most of the space and are by far the loudest.
One electric snow blower is the exact opposite of a petrol engine: the engine power is usually designed for everyday snowfall and not for a winter catastrophe. The devices are a bit quieter, smaller, lighter and therefore easier to use. The electric snow blowers also start at the push of a button. For this, models without a battery must always be connected to the power line by cable. This makes electric snow blowers a good alternative near buildings, for example in housing estates, or for winding application areas.
