Interestingly, just a couple of days ago both senior veterinarian D. Jitendra Kumar and Zoo director Amit Kumar had claimed that the zoo had succeeded in containing the spreading of H5N1, or bird flu virus, the latest deaths contradict their claims.

Meanwhile, a two-member team of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Uttar Pradesh, arrived in Patna on Saturday to review the situation.

On Sunday evening, workers in white hazmat suits were seen spraying chemical around the bird cages in an attempt to contain the spread of the virus.
